SUP-922: Proseminar on Inequality and Social Policy II

One part examines the political determinants and consequences of policies governing financial markets on economic growth, stability, and the distribution of income; considers the role of labor institutions and NGOs as potentially "countervailing" forces. Another part considers models of the welfare state and analyses of the origins, development, and political feedbacks of major social policies.Prerequisite: Normally limited to students who have taken SUP-921, but if space permits others with appropriate background may enroll with the permission of the instructor. Readings require at least two semesters of statistics or equivalent experience.
